"To say I am living my dream is an understatement! For over 10 years my passion has been to help the community with all of their finess goals as a personal trainer and as a CrossFit coach and owner today. As an owner I have the pleasure of helping build and guide the best community I have ever been a part of! I enjoy spending time with my wife, Desiree and our four children. I love competing in CrossFit competitions, jet skiing and spending time with my Platoon family. Creating an atmosphere that is safe, focused on community and one that emits fitness progression for all is my daily goal."
"Teaching and caring for young children has always been my passion. I live my passion everyday nurturing the children daily at our preschool and day care, Little People, Big Minds. Mike has always supported me and helped me build my dream and now I'm excited to help him build his at CrossFit Platoon. I started CrossFit when I realized, as I was getting older, that chasing kids around wasn't going to keep me fit! I also wanted to share in Mike's favorite activity and his biggest passion. I was definitely intimidated, insecure (having not been involved in any form of fitness prior) and nervous. What I quickly realized is that the community was more than accepting, encouraging and genuinely caring! I am a very social person so I love coming to CrossFit Platoon to connect with so many amazing people! I consider our community truly as part of our extended family and to me family is everything. At CrossFit Platoon I want to make sure EVERYONE feels welcome and part of our family."
"Since getting involved in CrossFit 5 years ago I have fallen in love with every aspect of what it means to CrossFit. Most people get super intimidated or think, "I can't do CrossFit because its to hard or scary." What you don't realize it's the complete opposite of that! ! CrossFit has not only given me back confidence that I lost in myself but also strength I never knew I had. I also found such a supportive community that I never knew existed! One that wanted the best for me. One that wanted to see me succeed! When the opportunity arose to partner with Mike and Desiree in owning CrossFit Platoon, there was no hesitation on mine or my husband Derek's answer. It was a huge YES!!! We wanted to be apart of an amazing community that empowers each individual to conquer their biggest fears and gives them strength and confidence not only in the gym but in their day to day lives. I look forward to spending time and coaching each and everyone of you to become your best self! In my spare time I love spending time with my husband, Derek and our two daughters, Rhylan & Brynn, exploring downtown Detroit, biking or relaxing at home."
"My journey into fitness began in high school. I was playing Junior hockey in Canada and training everyday. This is where I started to learn about explosive and interval training versus the regular gym training I had been doing on my own. The interest in fitness and health drove me to move to Georgia in 2005 with my then girlfriend and now wife, Jene, to become a Chiropractor. During Chiropractic school a group of friends and I would write down WOD's from CrossFit and perform them, we even had a rope that we bought to hang over a bridge at school to learn to do rope climbs! My wife and I moved back to Michigan in 2009 and I opened my practice, Elwart Family Chiropractic, in 2011. In 2013, I joined a CrossFit gym and immediately felt this is where I needed to be. I have never had the support of strangers before while working out. It was an amazing experience and taught me a lot about functional fitness that I could apply to better treat my patients. We currently have two daughters, Rhylan and Brynnley, who have both grown up in the gym. It is truly an amazing and supportive family we have at CrossFit Platoon and I couldn't think of a better group of people to help show my children what true compassion and integrity look like."

My journey to better health and a fitter me began when I finally tried CrossFit nearly five years ago. I had lost myself to poor life habits and a slowing metabolism. Nothing seemed to help get me in shape, nor was I really motivated to do anything about it. But, at the urging of a friend, I begrudgingly decided to give CrossFit a chance. I was not hooked immediately, but the positive energy I felt from the invigorating workouts, the sense of accomplishment from WOD completions and the supportive community created a perpetual motion of habits and successes that transformed my body, mind and spirit.
CrossFit changed my life as I rediscovered my energy and love for life with a fitness level I had never had before, of course it helped that I eventually lost 8 inches in my waist and 40lbs! Finally, in the summer of 2017, I decided to retire from teaching and get my level 1 CrossFit certification and embark on a new journey with fitness as the focal point. As a longtime coach of both female and male youth athletes, working with adults has come easy. Everyday in the gym as a trainer is rewarding and is an opportunity to pay it forward, helping others on their journey towards a fitter and better life.
